Stuff Matters: Exploring the Marvelous Materials That Shape Our Man-Made World

Stuff Matters: Exploring the Marvelous Materials That Shape Our Man-Made World - Mark Miodownik Ah-mazing. A brief volume packed with insight into how some basic materials of our lives work. The focus of the science is on the structure of the materials and how that affects their functions. He's managed to get to the heart of the matter and explain it well without dumbing it down too much or being condescending. There's a little personal anecdote in there, but mostly it's just a guy chatting to us about things that fascinate him. These are the things that surround us everyday.

Highly recommended. Read it! It will change how you view the world around you.

I got this through the FirstReads program. I think I'll reread it this week just to soak up all the little tidbits of trivia that seem not-so-trivial now.
