Astonish Me

Astonish Me - Maggie Shipstead I got this through the goodreads giveaway program.

In all honesty, this might be a 4-star read, but I personally appreciated it so deeply that it's a 5-star for me. A novel about ballet and dancing and dancers that's by someone who actually knows something about dancing. Not just throwing a few french vocab words and comments about flexibility around.

The story is also about love and identity, and our motivations for our decisions. The characters here were not universally loveable for me, but they were very real. Each has a darkness to them, a foolishness even in the midst of their admirable qualities.

In the end, I found the book thoroughly enjoyable.
